Two new routes availiable to Tenerife South from Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus the low cost airline announced that two new direct flights from
Tenerife South to Gatwick and Belfast.
These have
been added to the 38,000 seats already available last year, making a total of 92,000
seats, this is a 55% increase over 2008. By August 2009, 928,000 passengers had
arrived in Tenerife, and this new seat addition will consolidate the important visitor
growth between the British and Irish markets.
The Belfast
route commenced on September 22 and the London Gatwick route will commence on October
25, both using Tenerife airport south.
The Belfast
flights will running three times a week, (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), while
the London Gatwick flights will be running four times a week, (Monday, Wednesday,
Friday and Sunday). These routes are joining the current Aer Lingus flights from
Cork (twice a week) and Dublin (three times a week). The price of the new flights
will be 72 Euros one way.
British people
are still Tenerife biggest tourist market, with around 1,700,000 visitors in
2008. The average tourist age being 47 travelling mainly in couples and on average 78.7%
being repeat visits. The two main reasons for British tourists to choose
Tenerife as their holiday destination is beaches and the reliable sunny climate,
not forgetting the quality and service experienced at the island's hotels.
